Sessions and workshops on the media, international relations, and the significance of space exploration for the progress of human civilization were held on the third day of the School of Young Futurologists.

Tang Chenyi, Junior Research Fellow at the Shanghai Institute of International Studies, called for more active BRICS cooperation in cybersecurity. In 2024, the UN General Assembly adopted a new Convention on Cybercrime, co-authored by Russia, China, India, and Brazil. According to Tang Chenyi, BRICS countries need to harmonize their domestic legislation and respond collectively to cyber threats: “BRICS should become a platform for the practical application of the Convention both at the interstate level and at the level of research centers, expert communities, and technical specialists. Regular discussions like today’s allow us to better understand our partners’ positions and build multilateral networks of trust.
Innovation expert and CEO of the Digital Evolution Ventures Fund Evgeny Kuznetsov initiated an interesting discussion at the workshop “Space as the Image of the Future”. He argued that in the foreseeable future humanity—through technological progress and effective usage of stellar energy—will be able to fulfill the dream of interstellar flights: “Artificial intelligence is radically accelerating physical and mathematical calculations, and this already makes it possible to revise the timelines for creating warp technologies—a concept that previously sounded purely science-fiction. Interstellar flights in one or two centuries no longer look like fantasy but rather like a quite workable plan”.
Maiar Maher Fahim, an aerospace engineer at the Egyptian Space Agency, drew the attention of the participants to the humanistic dimension of space exploration: “Space is a source of endless knowledge, but the true value of its exploration lies in improving the quality of human life and protecting humanity from future threats. Without this component, space research has no meaning or value. Space exploration should serve the interests of all people, not just individual nations or communities”.

The School of Young Futurologists will conclude its work with the adoption of the BRICS International Charter of Young Futurologists. The participants of the SYF emphasized the need to create and maintain a permanent international network of analytical centers, research programs, and expert schools that will promote intellectual dialogue among young scientists and researchers from Russia, BRICS countries and the CIS.
